Did you know ?...Marathon is located on Vaca Key (Cayo de Bacas)? Vaca in Spanish means cow or Key of Cows (Sea Cows, better known as Manatees)....This name was first recorded in 1697 by an early Cuban Salvager. The Manatee is to Marathon as the Eagle is to the U.S.A. During the months of January, February and March, Manatee are seen in the channels of Marathon. The Design to the left is a 14K Gold Manatee wrapped around an authentic Spanish Silver Coin from the 1733 wreck of Coffins Patch....See "The Treasure of Don Christobal de Urquijo".
