Open Water Certification Program

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Complete Scuba Diver Certification Program is for anyone who is comfortable in the water. This program is designed to develop a safe, effective and confident diver able to dive without the direct supervision of an instructor. We offer internationaly recognized certifications from NAUI and  PADI certification agencies

The Scuba Diver Certification Program consists of three areas of training:

A) THE ACADEMIC; This covers equipment, safety, physics, physiology, and environment. This part of the training is done with video and   hands on lectures by an instructor.

B) THE CONFINED WATER; In this part of the program we start with basic swim and snorkel skills and then move into the use of scuba equipment. Your instructor(s) are in the pool with you at all times and there is continuous student- instructor contact. We cover everything from equipment hook-up through the point where the student is ready for the Open Water Skill Evaluation.

C) THE CHECK-OUT DIVES; This is the final step of your course and is completed in just two days. It is a repetition of all the skills learned in the pool but now they are performed in the open water. Upon completing the check-out dives successfully you will receive your Certification Card.

PREREQUISITES:
Comfortable in the water including basic swimming skills;
Minimum of 12 years of age;
Be in good health.

COURSE DURATION:
This program is a 35-hour course. It can be completed in 5 consecutive days or alternate days, including two days of open water skill evaluation. Ask the business office for a current schedule. We also offer a HOME STUDY program to shorten the amount of time in the classroom.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
All the equipment for the scuba class is supplied by the facility. The students are responsible for their own mask, fins, and snorkel. We recommend students wait till completion of first class which covers function, features, selection and care of each piece of equipment before they purchase any equipment. ( Mask, fins, and snorkels are available as rentals).

BOOKS:
The Open Water Manual will be supplied by the facility for your use. The manual may be purchased if a student wishes to do so. The home study option requires the purchase of a manual or CD-ROM.

COURSE COST:
The Complete Scuba Diver Program cost is $375.00 (minimum of 2 students). Private courses are $595.00. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required for registration. Program can not be started until all paper-work and fees have been received by the business office.
